Ooopsy Daisy!

Here are few new cards that I created using one of the newest Gina K. Designs newest releases, Flowers for Daisy.

This fabulous set of 9 stamps was created by artist Asela Hopkins for Gina K. Designs. For a limited time, a portion of the sales of this stamp set will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Asela Hopkins' friend Daisy who is fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Here a couple of cards using the 2 daisy images included in this set...

Daisy Trails....

To create this card I stamped and masked 5 daisy images on to the bottom of a piece of vellum.

Then I embossed the top of the vellum with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and then I embossed a double line just above the daisy images using my Scor-Pal tool.

I attached the vellum to the back of the card and folded it up and over the card front.

I measured the distance from the top of the card to the top of the double embossed line and adhered a piece of yellow cardstock underneath the vellum.

I added the strip and bow made of ribbon and the clear dollar store gems.

Lastly, I added some yellow flocking for soft daisy centers.

Diamond Daisy.....

To create this card, I stamped the large single daisy stamp randomly over the surface of the card cardstock card base. I was careful not to ink the stem of the flower so it was just the flower image that was stamped.

I cut a piece of vellum to place on the front and stamped one daisy in Ranger Distress ink on the front.

I carefully embossed the vellum using my Scor-Pal tool, avoiding embossing the daisy it's self.

I painted the back side of the daisy image on the vellum using my Ranger crackle paints. The paint colour is soft and subtle due to the translucency of the vellum.

I added a strip of punched green cardstock to the front of the card. I used a Martha Stewart punch for this design.

I punched two centered holes through the vellum and cardstock card base and tied a ribbon bow to attach my vellum to the card.

I added a simple sentiment on a piece of chalked white cardstock. I used my oval Spellbinder's Nestabilites die for the greeting shape. A few dots and a daisy card was born!

Supplies:
Top Card: Stamps: Gina K. Designs. Cardstock: Prism, Bazzill. Flock: Doodlebug Designs. Gems: Crafts. Tools: Cuttlebug embossing folder, Scor-Pal. Ink: Ranger. Ribbon: misc.
Bottom Card: Stamps: Gina K. Designs. Cardstock: Prism, Bazzill. Tools: Scor-Pal, punch by Martha Stewart, Spellbinder's Nestabilities (oval). Ink: Ranger. Paint: Ranger. Ribbon: misc. Chalk: Craf-T Products. Pen: Micron.

Gina K Designs: Cherry Candle & Card Tutorial

Here's another short tutorial for you using the amazing rubber stamps from Gina K. Designs.

I was browsing through one of our local dollar stores and come across these cute little fragrant candle tins. I thought that it might make a simple "thank you" type gift for a friend.

So I thought I'd alter the tin and make a matching card for her.

Here's the step by step instructions on how I made it.

Step One: Measure the height of your container paying careful notice about any lips or embossed sections that the outside may have. In my case the height was 1 1/8 inch high. I then cut a strip 12 inches long of plain white cardstock. It's better to have more than enough to cover than not enough. You may want to measure your container because may need more than 1 strip to cover the surface.

Step Two: Stamp your image all the way down the length of the cardstock strip. I used the cute little cherry stamp from the Gina K Design's set, "Summer Harvest".

Step Three: Using my Copic markers, I coloured in all my images along the entire length of the stamped strip.

Step Four: I added a little hightlight to all the cherries using my Signo white pen. This makes them appear shiny.

Step Five: Add glossy accents to all the images you whish to be shiney. I added it to all my cherries. Once completely dry, I ran a generous amount of adhesive along the back of the entire strip of stamped cardstock and wrapped it around the candle base.

Step Six: I removed the lid and added a single stamped cherry image to the top of the candle lid. I used black Staz-On ink on this surface so it would remain there and not rub off.

Step Seven: I then added some Glossy Accents by Ranger to the stamped image on the candle lid as well. When it was completely dry, I added some colour to the image using my Copic markers. The image remains clear but you can easily see the colour.

And here are the completed candle and matching card.

Card Supplies: Stamps: Gina K. Designs. Ink: Ranger, Copic. Paper: BasicGrey. Cardstock: Bazzill, The Paper Company, Prism. Tools: Spellbinder's Nestabilities (circle, scalloed circle), Scor-Pal. Punch: Martha Stewart Crafts. Pen: Signo. Metallic rub: Craf-T Products. Other: Glossy Accents by Ranger, ribbn.

Gina K Designs: Heart Card Tutorial

One of my all time favourite rubber stamp companies is Gina K. Designs.

This month, Gina is holding auditions to stampers to become a part of her design team for her next stamp release.

So I just wanted to share this Gina K. Designs stamp project with you!

I hope you enjoy it!

Step One: Cute a heart shape out of a square piece of cardstock, approximately 3.75x3.75 inches. I used my new Spellbinder's heart shaped Nestabilities die to cut out my shape for this. You could any shape you wish for your window.

Step Two: Using the Gina K. Designs "Flowers for Daisy" herb branch stamp, stamp all over the cardstock using your ink. I used Palette ink for this step.

Step Three: Center your card base (4x8 inches, folded in half) made of white cardstock below your window cardstock. Trace the window shape onto your card base.

Step Four: Remove your window cardstock and set it aside. Stamp your main image within the penciled in shape of your window. I used the two little kitties from the Gina K. Designs set, "Cuddle & Hugs".

Step Five: Give your stamp a background. For mine, I used the blades of grass also from the "Cuddles & Hugs" set.

Step Six: Erase all your pencil lines and fill in the rest of your back ground. I just added some chalk from Craf-T Products to colour in the sky and ground. I also coloured in my stamped image using Copics.

Step Seven: I added a little more ink to the edges of my window cardstock and then flipped it over and adhered some foam adhesive squares according. I then stuck it to my card front.

Step Eight: Add a greeting message to the front of your card. I punched out and embossed a smaller white heart, stamped a sentiment from the "Jumping for Joy!" stamp set "Thank You" on the heart, chalked it and adhered it to my card front.

Voila!! You now a cute little card to send to someone special!

Supplies: Stamps: Gina K. Deisgns. Ink: Ranger, Palette, Copic, Colorbox. Chalk: Craf-T Products. Cardstock: Prism, Die Cuts With a View. Tools: Spellbinder's Nestabilites (hearts).

Have a great Sunday!!!

Gina K Designs:Tutorial for an EASY Iris Folding Technique

Today I’m going to show you how to make a card with a very simple iris folding technique.
Supplies:
  • one card base (4.25×5.5 inches)
  • die cut shape or exacto knife
  • bone folder
  • scoring blade or a Scor-Pal like tool
  • tape
  • tape runner
  • patterned paper
  • ruler & pencil
Step One:
Gather your supplies together and create a “window” of any shape in the front of your card. I used a Spellbinder’s Nestabilities scalloped circle die to create my window. You can also trace or draw a shape and cut it out using an exacto knife or use a large punched shape.
Step Two:
Cut your paper into 4 x 1 inch strips. Fold them in half along their length. Pass your bone folder over the folds to make them nice and crisp. I used my Scor-Pal tool to create my folds. For my shape, I needed approximately 12 folded pieces but this could vary based on the size of your shape.

You should now have enough folded stripes to cover your window. For my example, I used two different coloured pieces of patterned paper, a yellow and an orange.

Step Three:
Open up your card to the inside. Draw one straight line across the bottom of your window slightly longer than the windth of your window. Using your pencil and ruler, mark up from the drawn line a series of eavenly spaced marks or dots up BOTH sides of your window shape. You will use these marks to ensure your folded patterned paper pieces are straight and evenly spaced. I spaced mine at every 1/4 of an inch.
Step 4:
Take your tape runner and run a line of adhesive around the top half of your design. Starting at the TOP of your window, place your first folded strip with the folded edge pointing down, using your guide marks to ensure it’s level across the window. I used some tape to hold down the ends. I also trimmed some of the strips as I went. The strips may not appear even from the back side of the card but they will be even from the front.
Step Five:
Repeat the process of added strips of paper until you cover the complete window shape. Make sure to add more adhesive to the inside edge of the window as you get further down the window’s shape.
Step Six:
Cut a piece of paper to hide the tape and paper strip backing. It should be slightly smaller than the front of your card. Mine was cut at 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches. Adhere it over your finished back.
Step Seven:
Decorate the front of your card! I used the "You are my Sunshine" set from Gina K. Designs.
If you look closely, I used Liquid Applique to make the "waves" on my image. I also use Glossy Accents to make the glass of lemonade look glossy.
The umbrella and the glass were stamped and cut out. I added some layers of cardstock underneath to make them pop up but not too much as to make the card too thick.
Now send it to someone special!
Supplies:

Patterned Papers: October Afternoon, Sassafrass Lass. Cardstock: Prism. Stamps: “You Are My Sunshine” set by Gina K. Designs. Ink: Ranger, Copic Markers. Other: Craf-T chalk, Crystal Stickles, Liquid Applique and Ranger’s Glossy Accents. Tool: Spellbinder’s Nestabilies, scalloped circle.
I hope you enjoyed this really simple tutorial! Enjoy!
